Enertis Applus+ and GroundWork Renewables Link Solar Module Factory Manufacturing Oversight to Independent Lab Testing

Collaboration joins in-factory QAQC with accredited laboratory testing for U.S. solar projects, helping project stakeholders verify module quality and performance before delivery

SAN FRANCISCO, September 21, 2026 | Enertis Applus+, a global consulting and engineering firm specializing in renewable energy and energy storage, and GroundWork Renewables, a solar a full-stack solar intelligence company providing field measurement systems, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab testing, and advisory services, are bringing to market an integrated offering for the U.S. solar market that combines in-factory quality assurance and quality control (QAQC), manufacturing oversight, and independent batch laboratory testing.

The collaboration brings together Enertis Applus+ factory audits, in-line production monitoring, factory acceptance testing (FAT) witnessing, representative sample selection, traceability, and project management capabilities with GroundWork’s independent laboratory testing services. These services include batch flash testing, PAN file generation, incidence angle modifier testing, reference module characterization, and reliability testing.

Enertis Applus+ provides independent oversight throughout production of the project’s modules, documenting manufacturing conditions, process controls, quality observations, and equipment traceability. Samples are selected from the monitored production and tracked through laboratory testing so that the manufacturing record and measured performance relate to the same modules and production batches.

GroundWork tests the selected modules in its ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory in Albuquerque, New Mexico. By coordinating factory and laboratory activities before shipment, the offering gives project sponsors, owners, investors, and lenders a clearer, more traceable record of the modules supplied to a project earlier in the project lifecycle. The combined information can validate performance-model inputs, support batch acceptance and procurement decisions, and establish a baseline for long-term asset performance, warranty, financing, diligence, and resale considerations.

“This collaboration gives project stakeholders a one-stop solution for solar module quality assurance, from the production line through independent laboratory testing,” said Iñaki Herrero, Managing Director, North America, Enertis Applus+. “By coordinating manufacturing oversight, representative sample selection, traceability, and laboratory testing under a single offering, we provide clients with one integrated and actionable record to support module acceptance, validate performance assumptions, and make informed procurement and investment decisions before delivery.”

As solar projects continue to grow in scale and complexity, proactive, early quality management is imperative” said Jim Crimmins, CTO of GroundWork. “Testing modules selected through a coordinated in-factory QAQC process links laboratory results directly to the production batches being evaluated. This approach helps our clients establish a reliable performance baseline before modules reach the project site.”
