Technical Advisory for Sonnedix’s Acquisition of a 260 MW BESS Portfolio in Italy

Our Consultancy team provided independent technical advisory services to support Sonnedix’s acquisition of a 260 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio in Italy, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its energy storage footprint in the country.

The transaction involves the acquisition of two BESS projects located in Tuscania from Sphera Energy. With this operation, Sonnedix continues to advance its hybridisation strategy and further strengthen its position in the Italian renewable energy market, where its portfolio has now surpassed 1 GW of capacity.

As part of the transaction, we acted as independent technical advisor, supporting the assessment of project risks and performance expectations to facilitate informed investment decisions throughout the acquisition process.

This project highlights the growing role of battery energy storage in supporting grid stability, energy security and the integration of renewable energy sources, while also reflecting the increasing activity in the Italian energy storage market.
